Abstract

1275375 Photographic silver halide development FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 7 Oct 1970 [8 Oct 1969] 47751/70 Heading G2C A method of developing a silver halide black and white photographic material comprising silver halide grains not exceeding 0À3 micron in mean grain size comprises developing the exposed photographic material in a developer solution containing hydroquinone and at least 0À5g of imidazole per litre of developer solution. The solution preferably contains not more than 10g of imidazole per litre, and preferably has apH of 8À5 to 12À0. The silver halide is preferably finegrain silver chlorobromide containing not more than 1% of silver iodide, the mean particle size of which silver halide does not exceed 0À2 micron. The imidazole is a development accelerator which increases the effective speed of the photographic material without increasing fog or deteriorating the granularity of the developed silver.
