Abstract
1279303 Production of sintered Ni steel INTERNATIONAL NICKEL Ltd 27 Aug 1970 [3 Sept 1969] 43596/69 Headings C7A and C7D A Ni containing steel is made by sintering a compacted powder mixture of the metal constituents and metal coated graphite powder. The graphite may be coated with Ni or Fe and may be 4-100 microns size. Coating may be effected by decomposition of the carbonyls in a fluidized bed of graphite, electro-deposition or precipitation from solutions. A particular steel produced, contains 0À5-7% Ni, 0.3-1%C, up to 5%Cu, up to 4% Mn, up to 1% Mo and balance Fe. Sintering is effected at 1200-1350 C.
