Abstract

1276829 Making printer's apparatus STORK AMSTERDAM NV 23 Oct 1970 [31 Oct 1969] 50506/70 Heading B3A [Also in Division B6] A printing screen is made by stretching a single layer of spaced wires 3 on an electrically conductive matrix 1 having a pattern 2 of insulating material upon it and electrodepositing metal 4 to form a layer with the wires 3 embedded in it, then removing the matrix. The surface of the matrix is passivated, so that the metal 4 does not stick to it. Preferably the matrix is cylindrical, and the pattern 2 has been impressed on it by etching or mechanically, e.g. by a milling roller, and filled with enamel or synthetic resin. The layer of wires 3 may be the result of winding one or more wires about a cylindrical former. In an example wire of 50Á diameter is wound on a matrix at a spacing of 100Á and nickel is deposited on the wire and matrix to a depth of 30Á. The wire may be wholly conductive, or may have a non-conductive core and electrically conductive surface.
