Abstract

1275682 Toy vehicle wheel MATTEL Inc 20 Feb 1970 [9 July 1969] 8341/70 Heading A6S A toy vehicle wheel comprises an inner element 16 and an outer element 18. The inner element comprises a hub portion 20, with bearing hole 22 for receiving axle 24. The circumferential portion 26 of element 16 has a diameter greater than any portion of the outer element 18 and its rim 14 supports the vehicle on the ground or track. A flange 28 extends axially outwards from the element at a point between the rim and hub portions and has a protuberance 30 for engagement of the outer element 18. The outer element 18 has a hub portion 32, with a boss 34 on its inner face which serves as a thrust bearing for axle 24, thus ensuring the wheel is located securely at the end of the axle. The element 18 also has an axially inward extending flange portion 38 with a protuberance 40 for engagement with the inner element 16, thus the two elements being designed to fit together as a "snap fit" with the wheel being located at the end of axle 24 by means of thrust bearing 34.
