Abstract

1,250,262. Vehicle wheels. C. H. W. BULLENS AND J. H. BULLENS. 3 April, 1969 [9 April, 1968], No. 17568/69. Heading B7C. A wheel for perambulators, childrens' bicycles and the like comprises a tubular hub 1 with a flange 2 at each end having a tubular extension 4 within the hub to receive a respective bearing bush 6 of resilient synthetic resin, each bush having a flange 7 or 10 contacting flange 2 and each bush being held in its extension by one or more projections 8. Flange 10 supports slidable member 19 spring urged to engage groove 24 in the axle on which the wheel is mounted to prevent axial displacement of the wheel. The flange 10 grips the periphery of the flange 2 via protuberences 22. The outer face of flange 10 is covered with a metal disc 15. In a modification, the flanges are cup-shaped extensions of the hub and welded thereto, and the slidable member is a U-shaped piece of wire each limb being bent to form a neck to engage the axle groove.
