Abstract

1,270,872. Window stops. MATTHEWS BROS. Ltd. and D. E. ROSE. 6 Aug., 1970 [18 Aug., 1969], No. 41193/69. Headings BIT and E2A. A window stop comprises a support member, a flat plate 10, for mounting on a frame of a window, an inner part 15 threadedly engaging the plate and an outer part 19 surrounding the inner part 15 and rotatable relatively thereto, the inner part having a non-circular bar 17 projecting therefrom within the rotatable outer part and engageable by a key to release the stop from the plate. A spacer 18 engages an end surface of the inner part around the projecting bar 17 and is retained by an inturned end of the outer part. The stop may be used to limit the sliding movement of window frame 12 relatively to window frame 23. Alternatively the stop may be used to secure a window stay of a pivoted window. As shown in Fig. 2, a spigot 24 projects from the plate, the spigot is engaged in an aperture of the stay to retain the window open or closed and the inner part 15 with the outer part is screwed by the key onto the spigot.
