Abstract
1,269,411. Keyboards for printers. TELETYPE CORP. 20 March, 1969 [26 March, 1968], No. 14584/69. Addition to 1,258,786. Heading B6F. A keyboard for a teleprinter includes a plurality of keylevers 55 each associated with an encoding device 106, depression of the keylever acting to cause movement of the encoding device to an operative position independently of the motion of the keylever, the encoding device then returning to an inoperative position independently of the keylever. Each encoding device 106 is of the kind described in the parent Specification, modified in that it rotates clockwise to the operative position. On depression of a keylever 55, an edge 163 engages a finger 166 of a first cam 157 of a cam assembly 151. The cam 157 is rotated by the keylever until a spring 169 engaging a square second cam 156 is able to take over and rotate the assembly 151 independently of the keylever, a finger 168 of a third cam 155 engaging a pin 114 of the encoding device 106 to rotate the encoding device to its operative position, at which point the pin 114 and finger 168 disengage to permit the encoding device 106 to return to its inoperative position.
