Abstract
1,269,100. Feeding and delivering sheets. XEROX CORP. 19 May, 1969 [20 May, 1968], No. 25288/69. Heading B8R. [Also in Division G2] Sheets 36, Fig. 1, are carried by grippers 30 on chains 26 from a feeding station 32 past the printing-station of a xerographic machine, where they are raised into contact with the xerographic drum 20 by a lifting mechanism D (see Division G2), to a delivery station 134. The gripper includes side frame members 80, Fig. 2, secured to the chains and to which is secured a rear frame member 82 supporting a strip member 84, Figs. 2 and 4, having front cut-out portions 86. A body 88 accommodates for rotation therein a rod 80 having a recess 94 to receive the leading edge of a sheet, and having an opening 89 below each portion 86, in each of which openings is mounted a leading edge guide 89 secured to the body, and held in contact with the rod by a leaf spring 99. A solenoid SOL-1 moves a lever 102 to engage cams 92 on the rod and rotate the latter and grip the sheet between the rod surface 106 and the strip member 84, the leading edge being guided by the guides 89. At the delivery station, the sheet passes between rollers 140, 142 separated by a solenoid SOL-2 controlled by a limit switch, the rollers then closing on the sheet to feed it out of the machine, while the gripper is released by a camming mechanism 160.
