Abstract

1435762 Feeding sheets XEROX CORP 2 Nov 1973 [6 Nov 1972] 50980/73 Heading B8R Pile supports.-A pile of sheets 38 is supported on a base-plate 74 between fixed and adjustable side guide plates 78, 76 and a rear adjustable guide plate 88. The plate 74 is supported on members 70 pivotally mounted on a fixed frame 72 and is urged by springs so as to pivot clockwise and move the front portion of the uppermost sheet into engagement with a separator. Sheet separator.-Sheets are separated from the top of the pile by a rotating friction roller 62. Preventing double feed.-A non-rotatable retard roller 64 is mounted eccentrically on a shaft 100 and urged into contact with the roller 62 by a spring 102. The roller 62 engages the top sheet and advances it into the nip between rollers 62, 64, the latter preventing passage of more than one sheet at a time. Sheet forwarders.-A sheet leaving the rollers 62, 64 passes between converging guide plates, between a pair of feed rollers, and is then conveyed by grippers on a transfer cylinder to an electrophotographic printing machine.
