Abstract

1,267,748. Pipe coupling. I-T-E IMPERIAL CORP. 12 Nov., 1969 [12 Nov., 1968], No. 55313/69. Heading F2G. A tube fitting comprises a body member 11, a nut member 12 and an annular sleeve member 13 having a substantially rigid annular portion 34, a deflectable nose portion 29 and a deflectable rear portion comprising a rear support portion 35 and fingers 37. Placing the tube T inside the sleeve and positioning the nut upon the body member causes the nose's surface 32 to seal and deform against a camming surface 16 so that the nose's internal teeth (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) engage the tube wall. Further tightening deforms the fingers 37 so as to supportingly engage the tube and firmly contact a surface 25. The nut may be subsequently removed and replaced without disengagement of tube and sleeve.
