Abstract

1,264,963. Retractable ball-point pens. SCRIPTO PENS Ltd. 2 June, 1969 [24 July, 1968], No. 35301/68. Heading B6P. A rear plunger operated retractable ball-point pen, as described in Specifications 804,903 and 880,633, has a cap 12 jointed to the plunger 7 at the final stage of assembly of the pen. Either or both the plunger and cap may be made of thermoplastic material, e.g. acrylonitrile butadiene or nylon, the cap being secured to the plunger by a local heating or welding operation similar to spot welding, stud welding or hotriveting. Ultra-sonic welding can also be used. In the particular embodiment, the plunger 7 has a rear-end spigot 10 riveted into an annular rear end of the cap 12.
