[Also in Division D1] In a drive for reciprocating the cylinder of a knitting machine, to reduce the accelerating and decelerating periods, the crank rod 17 of the segment gear 13 is pivoted to a non-circular gear 20 driven by a further non-circular gear 21. The segment oscillates a pinion 12 free on the drive shaft 8, but selectively clutchable to it.
