Abstract
1,191,036. Stamping. AIDA TEKKOSHO K.K. 5 Aug., 1968 [11 Aug., 1967], No. 37196/68. Heading B3Q. [Also in Divisions B5 and F2] In a press particularly useful in drawing sheetmetal, the slide is driven by a non-uniformly rotating crank-shaft in such a way that the slide effects fast approach and return strokes and a slow working stroke. As shown in the Figure the slide S is driven by a main crank-shaft 2 itself driven through an arm 4 by a link 6. The other end of link 6 is connected to an auxiliary crankshaft 7 rotatably mounted in a main gear 10, 10<SP>1</SP> which gear is rotatably journalled about the main crank-shaft and driven by pinion 11. One end of shaft 7 carries a planetary gear 8 which engages a fixed sun gear 9. As the main gear rotates the planetary gear, as well as moving with the main gear, is caused to rotate about its own axis by virtue of its engagement with the sun gear. This causes the auxiliary crank-shaft to rotate as well as orbiting around the main crank-shaft, this rotation of the auxiliary crankshaft driving the main crank-shaft in the desired non-uniform manner through the link and arm connection.
