Abstract
1,257,528. Colour television tubes. THOMSON CSF. 23 June, 1969 [16 July, 1968], No. 31637/69. Heading H1D. A colour TV tube for correcting the effect of the terrestial magnetic field has four separate flat electromagnets B1 B2, B3, B4, which may be horn shaped (cf., Fig. 8, not shown) one electromagnet being mounted at each of the four screen corners, against and outside and frontally thereof for producing a magnetic field parallel to the tube axis and decreasing from the corners towards the screen centre. The coils may be in series and separately supplied and controlled. Deflections compensated may be as in Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) due respectively to the terrestial vertical component and horizontal component perpendicular to the tube axis, and the component parallel to the tube axis may be compensated by the coil surrounding the screen used for demagnetization at starting. Mention is made of wider potential tolerance of chromatic purity electrode P (Fig. 1, not shown) and reference is made to a screen with phosphor stripes and dots.
