Abstract

1,250,288. Colour television tubes. TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 17 Feb., 1970 [17 Feb., 1969], No. 7496/70. Heading H1D. In a three-gun shadow mask type of colour television tube the transparency of the shadow mask is increased by making the apertures elongate in the vertical direction, the fluorescent dots on the screen being of similar shape, and the diameter of the neck of the tube is reduced to reduce the power required for the scanning coils by reducing the diameter of the blue gun and disposing the axes of the guns on an isosceles triangle instead of on an equilateral triangle. In the particular embodiment illustrated (Figs. 1-3, not shown) the apertures and the fluorescent dots are rectangular; the diameter of the blue gun may be 7 mm. whereas that of the other two guns is 10 mm. (Fig. 4, not shown).
