Abstract

1,255,107. Lamp holders. J. L. DOMECQ. 22 Dec., 1969 [20 Dec., 1968], No. 62300/69. Heading H2E. In an electric lamp holder 2, fingers 3 which extend across the lamp-receiving aperture of the holder to form a shield can be retracted by rotation of a ring 6 concentrically mounted on the flanged mouth of the moulded insulating housing 2a, to a position within the ring 6, to allow the insertion of a lamp base. -The fingers are hinged on pivots 4 integral with the housing 2a and have extensions 3a which are received in recesses 6a of the ring 6. The ring 6 is spring biased towards the " fingers-extended " position. The fingers 3 which are claw-shaped and comprise teeth 3b bear against the base of an inserted lamp e.g. of the screw-based type. The spring bias and the connection between the ring 6 and the housing 2a are effected by an annulus 8 of elastic material. The extent of rotation is limited by a stop 14 attached to the ring 6 which moves inside a notch in the flange integral with the housing 2a. In a modification, Fig. 9 (not shown), projections (13) on the fingers increase the area shielded by the fingers.
