Abstract

1,253,270. Clamps. A. BRANDESTINI. 28 Feb., 1969 [11 March, 1968], No. 10849/69. Headings E1W and E2B. A prestressed concrete construction comprises an anchor body 8 for positioning in a cavity of a concrete structure 1 and having a frusto-conical recess 7, multipart wedge members 5, 6 having surfaces complemental to the recess, and an end wall and a friction area for encircling a strand 3 the strand including an enlarged end area 4 for engagement with the end wall, whereby the enlarged end area of the strand when under tension pulls the wedge members 5, 6 into gripping engagement with the strand 3. As shown a strand 3 is upset to form a head 4 which is supported on the concrete structure 1 by the multi-part wedge 5, 6. In a similar arrangement, Fig. 2 (not shown) the opening 2 in the structure 1 is greater in diameter than the diameter of the head 4. In other arrangements, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) the wedge is provided with a flange which bears on the outer end of the body 8 and in a counterbore (10) therein respectively. In a further arrangement, Fig. 5 (not shown) the head (20) is recessed in a counterbore in the wedge 5, 6 which is formed with a cylindrical extension (17) beyond the outer end of the member 8.
