Abstract

1,252,960. Photographic silver halide emulsions. FUJI PHOTO FILM CO. Ltd. July 8, 1969 [July 9, 1968], No.34425/69. Heading G2C. A photographic silver halide emulsion contains as a sensitizer and anti-foggant a glycol of the formula: - wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are each hydrogen or alkyl and R 4 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, alkoxyalkyl, aryloxyalkyl or allyloxyalkyl, but wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are not all simultaneously hydrogen. Specified glycols are 2 : 3-butanediol, 1: 2-butanediol, pinacol, 1: 2-hexanediol, 1 -phenyl-1: 2 -ethanediol, 3 -m -octyloxy -1:2 2-propanediol, 3 -allyloxy -1:2- -propanediol, 3-phenoxy-1: 2-propanediol and 3-(2-methoxyphenoxy)-1: 2-propanediol. The glycol is added at the beginning of or during chemical ripening.
