Abstract

1,248,335. - Two-part couplings. COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ENTREPRISES ELECTRIQUES. 15 Oct., 1969 [18 Oct., 1968], No. 50775/69. Addition to 1,227,429. Heading H2E. In an assembly 201 of modular female connectors 203 as claimed in the parent Specification, each associated with a male connector 204 as disclosed therein, the male connectors are interlocked to form a composite plug 202. The interlocking means may comprise double dovetailed keys (206) (Fig. 2, not shown), co-operating with grooves in the male connector sleeve. The keys have heads (208) engaging gaps (210) in the male connectors 204 and a rearward extension of a key may function as a marker (Figs. 7, 8, not shown). For correct mating at least one pair of contacts in the male and female assemblies may be replaced by locating members (Fig. 3). The rear end 211 of the male connector accommodates male locating member 212 having L-cross-sectioned extension 213 which only interfits with female location member 220 when the two assemblies are correctly aligned. Member 203 is one of the two sleeves characterizing the female connector in the parent Specification. A locking rod passes through a central bore in the location members and is threaded at either end to take locking nuts (Fig. 4, not shown). Each modulator unit of the male and female assemblies may have four contacts, those in the female assembly comprising blade contacts disposed along diagonals and insulated from each other (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown). The male contacts are clips mating with the blades and provided with retaining lugs.
