A polarized bi-stable relay has two ceramic permanent magnets 1, 2, with like inner poles adjacent a central magnetic yoke member 4 and outer poles adjacent outer magnetic yoke members 3, 5. The yoke members 3, 4, 5 also act as contacts two of which are alternatively bridged by a contact armature 6 movable in a coil former 10 when windings 8, 9 are pulsed. Alternative arrangements (not shown) may have alternately energized windings, a plurality of armatures or multiple contacts.
