Abstract
1,244,482. Mounting locks. TONKS (BIRMINGHAM) Ltd. 31 Oct:, 1968 [15 Nov., 1967], No. 51920/67. Heading E2A. A latch and/or lock 10 is fixed into a recess 11 in the edge of a door, particularly a glass door 12, by means of a pair of plates 17, 18 clamping the door on either side and having outwardly turned flanges 30 for engagement in grooves 31 in cover-plates 32, and sliding movement of these plates being restrained between flanges 33 at the rear of the fixing plates 17, 18 and the forend plate 37. The lock shown has a barrel 13 secured by a screw at 16 and projecting through a hole 40 in one cover-plate, but it may be of plate tumbler type. The fixing plates 17, 18 are secured by four screws 21 entering threaded sockets 19 in plate 18, two of the screws passing through resilient bushes 22 lying in partcylindrical portions of the door-recess 11. These plates engage the lock body by inturned flanges 24 and tongues 25. The forend plate and the lock plate 15 are secured to flanges 26 on plate 18 by screws 36 and nuts 29. The flanges 33 have stop-plates 34 rivetted to them. A door handle 41 of channel shape is secured to cover-plate 18. (For Figure see next column)
