The face plate of an electric power socket is replaced or supplemented by a plate 7 having guides 9 to receive flanges on a hollow box shaped cover which encloses an inserted plug, and is provided with an aperture such as an open bottom to accommodate the flex. Alternatively the guides may be provided on the cover and the flanges on the face plate or the cover may be slightly flexible and engaged on retaining studs.
