Abstract

1,243,124. Removing slag. FOSTER WHEELER CORP. 11 Sept., 1969 [11 Sept., 1968], No. 44895/69. Heading F4B. Slag is removed from the heat transfer surfaces in the combustion chamber of a steam generator by spraying water under pressure against the heat transfer surfaces. Nozzles 42 are arranged over three quarters of the height of the combustion chamber suction 14 of the surface, and are movable into and out of the furnace. Water under pressure is delivered to the nozzles at intervals determined in accordance with the slag build up, and the nozzles rotate to give a circular or spiral pattern of water spray directed towards the furnace wall.
