In an oval chain link having a central stud 12 between opposite sides of the link and a weld 11 at least in one side, the stud 12 is provided with a notch 13 in the end facing the weld 11 so that the weld is visible at the inside of the link. A similar notch 14 is also provided at the opposite end of the stud 12.
