A chain link comprises an elongated metal loop the end and side portions of which are of trapezoidal cross-section, the base of the trapezium being on the outside of the link at the sides and being on the inside of the link at the ends in order to provide thickened metal portions to withstand wear. The end portions may be twisted with respect to each other. The chain is applied to a dragline bucket.
