Abstract

1,240,120. Lap forming device. FIBRE GLASS LTD. 11 June, 1969 [25 June, 1968], No. 30253/68. Heading DIN. A glass fibre mat is made by passing a plurality of streams of glass fibres downwardly through open-ended passageways 25 and deflecting the lower end of the passageways so that the streams weave from side to side and so that each fibre stream is deposited on a moving conveyor 15 with a limited amount of overlap between the areas covered by adjacent streams. Jets of high velocity air may be directed adjacent fibre spinnerettes 11-14 to produce the glass fibre streams.
