[Also in Division F1] A vehicle jacking apparatus comprises a base member 1 with first and second scissor arms 3, 2 pivoted at 16 and supporting a beam 8. The first arm 3 is pivoted to the beam 8 at 10 and runs on rollers (29), Fig. 4 (not shown), on an axle 12 in a roller guard 15. The second arm 2 is pivoted to the base 1 at 9 and runs on rollers 13 in upper roller guard 14 on the beam 8. An hydraulic ram 7 is pivoted between the arms 3, 2 extending from the axle 12 to a pivot point 11 intermediate the upper end of the arm 2 and the pivot 16. The ram 7 is supplied from a pump 4 mounted on the apparatus. The pump 4 is double-acting with spring-loaded reciprocating pistons 23, 25, Fig. 5, each with input, output and relief valves, respectively 31, 30, 32. The pressure is relieved from the closed hydraulic system by movement of a knob 28 opening a relief bore 36. The pump 4 is manually operated by a handle 20 movable in a horizontal plane about a pivot 21, rollers 22, 24 contacting the pistons 23, 25, the pump 4 otherwise having conventional features. The jacking apparatus has an outwardly slidable pair of extension arms 17 with resilient suspension pads 19 comprising several stackable elements 19A placed on the upper part 18. A vehicle being serviced may be raised completely by using a pair of the jacking apparatuses one at either end, the vehicle being lifted in wheel-free condition in which the suspension does not transmit a supporting force from the wheels to the chassis.
