1,237,072. Cam mechanisms. LEYLAND MOTORS Ltd. 10 July, 1968 [10 July, 1967], No. 31661/67. Heading F2K. In an I.C. engine valve gear, a cam/tappet clearance-determining distance piece 24 between a chill-cast iron hollow cylindrical tappet 20 and the stem 10 of an austenitic steel valve member is magnetized so as to remain attached at all times to the tappet, thereby being prevented from becoming detached and lost during assembly and dismantling or sliding sideways and being trapped should the valve member stick in its guide.
