Abstract
1,233,257. Shaft coupling. BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE A.G. 29 Nov., 1968 [1 Dec., 1967], No. 56691/68. Heading F2U. To prevent backlash in a spline coupling 1 between two elements 2, 3 of a shaft, a resilient plastics ring 7 is compressed between the splines on the inner element 2 and a sleeve 5 screwed on to the outer element 3. The sleeve 5 has an inturned end 5<SP>1</SP> and a metal ring 8 prevents the ring 7 being extruded beneath the flange 5<SP>1</SP>. Axial movement between the two shaft elements 2, 3 may be permitted.
