Abstract

1,232,728. Colour television tubes. ZENITH RADIO CORP. 26 Nov., 1969 [19 Dec., 1968], No. 57894/69. Heading H1D. The shadow mask of a colour television tube is supported from the face plate by means of bimetallic strips so that as the mask heats up it moves towards the screen so that the alignment of the mask with the dots on the screen is preserved. Each bimetallic strip comprises two strips of metal butt welded along their edges; the strip with the higher thermal expansion should be nearer the screen and should be welded to a flange extended rearwards from the shadow mask. At the other end of the strip an aperture in the shape of a clover leaf is formed in the strip with the higher thermal expansion; the aperture is preferably countersunk and is adapted to fit over a pin provided on the face plate. When the mask is rectangular a strip should be provided on each side and/or the top and bottom, both strips pointing in the same direction.
