Abstract

1,232,911. Colour television tubes. BUCKBEE-MEARS CO. 6 Feb., 1969 [1 July, 1968], No. 6607/69. Heading HID. A shadow mask comprises a perforated area 11 surrounded by a rim 13 which extends backwards and is then bent forward to form a skirt 14 which is adapted to engage a groove 16 formed in the face-plate 12. When the face-plate is welded to the envelope portion 17 the shadow mask is held securely in the groove and any thermal expansion causes the perforated area to move longitudinally without causing any lateral displacement of the apertures.
