Abstract

1,231,386. Feeding sheets. AUTOFEEDS LONDON Ltd. 31 July, 1968 [4 Aug., 19671, No. 36028/67. Heading B8R. Sheets separated from pile 1 by suction pads 7 on head 5 are forwarded to transport rollers 3 and 4. A member 9 senses the level of the upper surface of the front of the pile and controls hoist 2 to maintain the surface in alignment with rollers 3 and 4. A member 8 on head 5 senses the level of the upper surface of the rear of the pile and controls the vertical level of the head 5. Member 9 may be pivotable about axes 10 and also vertically movable so that it can engage the sheet below the one being separated. Alternatively, the front senser may be photo-electric. Head 5 is pivotable about point 6. In a modification the rear senser may control the hoist and the front senser the head. Pivotable front stop 13 controls the release of sheets to rollers 3 and 4. Head 5 may include means for blowing air beneath the top sheet of the pile to assist separation.
