Abstract

1,230,509. Feeding sheets. H. SPIESS. 29 July, 1969 [8 Aug., 1968], No. 37921/69. Heading B8R. In mechanism for separating and forwarding sheets from a pile and comprising two or more suction nozzles 17, 18 carried by a cross-bar 16 reciprocated in the direction of feed by eccentric and link mechanism 3, 5, 6, 11, the bar 16 which is tubular, is adjustably pivotable about a vertical axis 21 preferably at its mid-point, to ensure that the leading edge of a sheet carried by the nozzles is at right angles to the conveying direction. The connecting rod 11 of the operating linkage is connected at one end to an elbow 12 having rigid therewith an arm 13 with a roller 14 running in a horizontal guide 15 this arrangement ensuring that the elbow and also the bar 16 move in a horizontal path. On the elbow 12 is a bearing 19 for a lever arm 20 rotatable about the vertical axis 21, the tube 16 being rigidly fixed to the arm 20. A roller 22 on the arm 20 engages a groove in a guide rail 23 adjustable about a vertical axis 24 by screw mechanism 25, 26 so as to pivot the bar 16 about the axis 21.
