Abstract

1,230,406. Saccharification of starch. HAYASHIBARA CO. 18 April, 1968 [18 April, 1967], No. 18492/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] In the saccharification of a liquefied starch syrup, isoamylase or a mixture thereof with α-amylase is added during or after saccharification to give a reduction in viscosity without loss in heat stability of the product. It is stated this is due to hydrolysis of α-1,6 links in dextrin molecules without increasing the amount of glucose produced. In examples, saccharification is effected with oxalic acid or α-amylase. The product contains glucose, a high proportion of biose (e.g. 57.2-69.7%), lesser amounts of (3-5)-ose and up to, e.g. 28% dextrin.
