Abstract

1,229,614. Dockboard for loading lorry. SERVICE STEEL & ENG. Ltd. 28 May, 1968 [29 May, 1967], No. 25490/68. Heading B8E. The dock-board is formed of a main plate 16 pivoted at 20 to the framework 18 and a lip plate 17 pivoted at 21 to the said main plate 16. The relative movement of 17 relative to 16 is effected by arm means 100 which is composed of member 30 pivoted at 31, member 32 sliding freely within member 30, rod 33 sliding freely within member 32 under the influence of spring 34, and the link connections 37, 39. Two latch means are provided. The first latch means is member 41 secured within member 30. Second latch means is 48 pivoted at 49 to member 50 secured to member 32 and provided with notch 51. A stop member 58 pivoted at 59 is also provided to engage with fixture 62 to support the plates 16, 17 when they are in a low position. Operation.-The plates 16, 17 are moved anticlockwise about pivot 20 by the operator by means of a handle (not shown) into the upper position shown in Fig. 13, the movement causing an extension of arm means 100, the member 32 sliding within member 30 till the end of member 32 engages first latch 41 (as shown). The dockboard 16, 17 is tehn lowered by clockwise rotation which causes relative movement between plate 16 on the one hand, and arm means 100 and plate 17 on the other hand, till the second latch means 48, by means of notch 51, engages member 52 attached to plate 16. Additionally during the downward movement, rod 33 moves within and relative to member 32 and (by its sloping face 90) causes the member 32 to slide off first latch 41 and to unlatch itself as shown in Fig. 15. The dock-board is now ready for the approach of a lorry to conduct goods thereupon. Fig. 16.-A wire 91 for the operator is provided, which passes through plate 16 and is hand operated whereby abutment 91a may engage and operate stop member 58, and abutment 91b may engage and operate the second latch means.
