Abstract

1,222,749. Plunger armature relays. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc. 14 May, 1969 [17 May, 1968], No. 24613/69. Heading HlN. An electromagnetic relay with a plunger armature has the shape of the armature 14 arranged so that on energization of the relay coil 6 the part 17 of the armature of restricted mass is attracted and the contacts 2, 11, 3, 12 close before the larger section 18 of the armature is effective to increase the armature speed and stress the contact pressure spring 13 to prevent contact rebound. The restriction may be due to an annular channel 15 or an internal recess 16 (Fig. 4). The contacts 11, 12 on the bridge 10 co-operate with fixed contacts 2, 3 within a housing 1 on which the coil is wound and which is held together by a pin 7 on which the armature and movable contact assembly slide.
