Abstract

1,214,893. Hydraulic actuators. SPETSIALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO PO OBORUDOVANIJU DLYA PROIZVODSTVA ASBOTSEMENTNYKH IZDELY I RULONNO KROVELNYKH MATERIALOV. June 18, 1968, No. 28958/68. Heading F1P. In a hydraulic actuator comprising a piston 4 in non-self locking screw threaded engagement with an output shaft 3 slidably projecting through both ends of a cylinder 1 whereby longitudinal movement of the piston in the cylinder 1 results in rotation of shaft 3, fluid supply and exhaust is effected through bores 11, 12 in opposite ends of the shaft 3. As shown two piston 4 are carried by oppositely directed threads on shaft 3 and are prevented from rotating relative to the cylinder by tubular guide rods 8 passing through the pistons and secured to the cylinder ends. In operation working fluid is admitted at 11 to an end chamber 5 of the cylinder and through the tubes 8 to an opposite end chamber 9 whereby the two pistons move towards each other and exhaust fluid from an intermediate chamber 7 through bore 12 in shaft 3. The latter may be held fixed and the cylinder allowed to rotate.
