Abstract

1,213,303. Chainsaws. F. DAVISON. 25 Sept., 1968 [7 Oct., 1967]; No. 45983/67. Heading B5L. In a chainsaw in which a toothed chain is driven by an air-cooled internal combustion engine by means of a sprocket 5 connectible by a clutch to one end of the engine's crankshaft 1, the other end of the crankshaft is fitted with a centrifugal fan for the purpose of blowing cooling air over the cylinder 4 of the internal combustion engine, the fan having its blades 20 and air entry lying inwards from the crankshaft end on which it is fitted. As described the fan comprises a flywheel 7 and is located adjacent the starter 8 for the motor. Air is discharged by the fan into a plenum chamber 15 and air for the engine carburetter is drawn from this chamber.
