[Class 7 (ii)] Scavenging and charging air is provided by a blower 1 which, during normal running, is driven by a turbine 2 using exhaust gases ; at starting and low speeds a belt 12 drives the blower shaft 16 from the crank-shaft through an over-running clutch, or an electric motor or auxiliary engine may be used.
