Abstract

1,212,692. I.C. engine cylinder heads. H. WESTLAKE. March 17, 1969 [Dec. 15, 1967], No. 57144/67. Heading F1B . A cylinder head cavity 11 with two inlet ports 18, 19 and two exhaust ports 16,17 has a crisp-shaped projection 21 extending from the edge of the cavity between each inlet port and an adjacent exhaust port to promote swirl in the incoming gases. The cavity 11 may be pent house shaped, domed or flat bottomed with the projections extending from the peripheral wall.
