Abstract

1,211,713. Stripping pirns. COURTAULDS Ltd. 11 April, 1968 [13 April, 1967], No. 17026/ 67. Heading D1F. Remnant yarn 7 is stripped from a yarn package former 3 in a device comprising a former rotating means 1 to rotate the former in the yarn unwinding sense, and a brushing means 6 rotatably brushing against the remnant yarn to pick up the yarn tail and present it to a yarn winder 9 for winding the yarn sideways off the former, the brushing means shown comprises strips 6 made of a fabric having protruding hooked fibres. The yarn winder shown comprises radial vanes 8 for catching the yarn, the rate of rotation of the winder should be at most equal to the rate at which yarn is released by rotation of the former.
