1,208,573. Making heat exchangers. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 April, 1968 [21 April, 1967], No. 18489/67. Headings B3A, B3J and B3Q. [Also in Division F4] A tubular heat exchanger in which the tubes are lined with a material which is softer than the metal of the tubes, is made by expanding the tubes in grooved holes in at least one tube plate by means of explosive. The heat exchanger may be formed of U-tubes fixed in a single plate. The tubes may be made of mild steel, low-alloy steel, stainless steel or titanium and the linings of copper, aluminium, lead or a non-metallic material, e.g. a plastics.
