Abstract
1,207,754. Gearing for converting rotary into reciprocating motion. ELEKTROMAT VEB. 2 May, 1968, No. 20759/68. Headings F2K and F2Q. Epicyclic gearing, e.g. for use in converting rotary into reciprocating motion comprises a driving carrier 3 carrying a planet pinion 7 which selectively meshes either an axially movable non-rotatable ring gear 5 or a non- rotatable sun gear 10 so that a pin 9 eccentrically mounted on the planet pinion 7 describes either an epicycloid or hypocycloid path and co-operates with a further mechanism, e.g. slide rings and guides, to provide intermittent reciprocating motion. As shown, the sun gear 10 is also axially movable. Again, the sun gear may be axially fixed and selectively braked. The sun gear 10 is shown mounted on a rod 4 keyed to a disc 12 held non-rotatable on a housing 1 by torsion rods 13. The ring gear 5 is slidable along torsion rods 6 fast with housing 2.
