Abstract

1,203,561. Two-stroke engines. J. J. DINEEN. Jan.16, 1969 Jan.25, 1968], No.2583/69. Heading F1B . In a two-stroke engine comprising a piston 20 reciprocable in a cylinder bore 14 and defining therewith opposed combustion and pumping chambers 16 and 18, the piston is connected to a crank-shaft 26 within the piston. The crankchamber 29 is sealed by oil control rings 42 carried by the piston 20 and oil for cooling and lubrication is supplied through the pipe 34. Fuelair mixture is supplied to the pumping chamber 18 by a carburetter (46), Fig.2 (not shown), through a reed valve 50 and delivered from the pumping chamber through a reed valve 52 and passage 54 to the inlet port 56. A reciprocating power take-off shaft 38 is formed integrally with the piston head 24. Cooling air is directed by a baffle 66 over the intermediate and lower portions of the finned cylinder 12 to a crank-shaft driven blower 64. Air from the blower is directed by a baffle 68 over the upper portion of the cylinder.
