Abstract

1,203,436. Casting kerbs. FOWLER REX PTY. Ltd. 24 Oct., 1967 [28 Oct., 1966], No. 48311/67. Heading E1S. A mobile kerb-extruding machine with wheels 26 and skids 5 has a ram plate 11 operated by an I.C. motor 2 via linkages, e.g. 6, 12, imparting a horizontally reciprocating motion to the plate together with an oscillatory motion about an axis in the plane of the plate and transverse of the machine, so that concrete from a hopper 8 is compacted and extruded at 10a. Two stoker blades 18 (Fig. 2, not shown) are employed to feed the concrete into the ramming chamber 7, the blades each being supported by two pivotable arms 17, and all four arms 17 having a common axle 19 which is adjustably connected to the linkage 6, so that the blades 18 operate simultaneously with the ram plate 11. The arrangement is such that the blades 18 are at their lowest position when the ram plate 11 is at the beginning of its compacting stroke. The machine is propelled by the reaction between the concrete and the ram plate 11. The machine is steered by a tiller 23, and kept in horizontal elignment with a guide cord via handles 25 which move wheels 26 up or down.
