717,505. Hydraulic presses. SIEMPELKAMP, E. Aug. 8, 1951, No. 18658/51. Class 69 (2) A hydraulic press comprises a fixed platen and a movable platen operated by a plurality of hydraulic rams 1', 2<SP>1</SP> ... 7<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>1</SP>, operating in cylinders 1, 2 ... 7, 8, connected in pairs to separate pumps 10, 11, 12, 13 each of which is separately regulated by control means maintaining a fixed inclination of the movable platen to the fixed platen, which means control electric motors which drive the pumps. The control means comprise vertical rods 18, 18<SP>1</SP> secured to the movable platen which detect deviation about the longitudinal axis and a further vertical rod 14 which detects deviation about the transverse axis. The rods carry contacts which on tilting contact stationary contacts to stop the motor driving the pump or pumps causing the tilting.
