Abstract

1,202,374. Coaxial connectors. BUNKER RAMO CORP. 22 Aug., 1967 [22 Aug., 1966], No. 38595/67. Heading H2E. A coaxial connector 20 comprises a conductive shell 24 having a rearwardly extending integral sleeve 28 which, in use, is disposed between the inner insulation 14 and the outer conductor 16 of a coaxial cable 10, the conductor 16 being clamped to the circumferentially grooved sleeve 28 by a split-ring 36 to which inwardly-directed radial pressure is applied by means of a wedge-section cam-ring 40. An outer sleeve 32, joined to shell 24 by threading, brazing, welding &c., is internally threaded at its remote end 34 to receive an externally threaded clamping nut 44 which is screwed in to force earn-ring 40 over split-ring 36. A sealing gasket 46 provides a waterproof seal. The inner cable conductor 12 is connected by conventional means to inner connector contact 18 which is held in shell 24 by a resilient insulating member 22. Fig. 4 (not shown) depicts a connector (not within the scope of the invention claimed) in which split-ring 36 is replaced by a deformable ferrule (54) which is crimped on to conductor 16 and sleeve 28, a soft sealing sleeve (56) providing a waterproof seal.
