A gas burner for use with natural gas or other gases has a main gas chamber 4 with gas inlet 5 and flame ports 6 and an auxiliary chamber 7 with a slot-like gas port 8 to which gas is supplied from the main chamber 4 through slots 9, an auxiliary flame at the port 8 preventing lift off of the main flame and the burner being formed of upper and lower sheet metal pressings 1, 2 in face-to-face relationship and an intermediate strip section 3.
