Abstract

1,199,133. Container closure. STERLING SEAL CO. 11 Feb., 1969 [12 Feb., 1968], No. 7378/69. Heading B8T. A cap for use with an aerosol can or other container comprises upper and lower inverted cup-shaped members 10 and 14 respectively, the member 14 having a lipped centre hole 19 to underlie an edge 20 of the neck 2 of the can. A skirt 23 of the upper member 10 may be attached to a recessed portion 11 of the lower member 14 by spinning, welding or gluing, a band 13 being formed around the skirt. A skirt 25 of the lower member 14 may be curled inwardly to engage an overhang 27 of a breast 15 of the can. In a modification, the skirt of the lower member overlies the rim of the can. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the upper member (210) is threaded to the lower member (214) thus making the cap re-usable. Again, the skirt of the lower member may be curled or straight and have a tear-strip formed around its outside.
