Abstract
1,196,993. Moulding plastic substances. J. & J. DYSON Ltd. 28 April, 1968 [11 May, 1968], No. 22468/68. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F4] A composite refractory moulded nozzle for a ladle or tundish 4 comprises a main body 1 and a lining 5 of different materials which are co-moulded together at their interface 8 and which define a bore 6 flared at its upper end to provide a stopper seating 7. The lining may only form part of the bore surface, may be uniform in thickness or taper and may be backed by another lining. The nozzle is fired before use or each material is chemically bonded. Successive pen dies are used to mould the nozzle. Suitable refractory materials used may include fireclay, zircon, the oxides of magnesite, zirconia, and silicon; bonding agents include sodium silicate, inorganic polymers, phosphates and chromates. The nozzle body may be as described in Specification 1,194,488.
